Summary
By the end of this presentation, participants will:

• Obtain the knowledge base and tools to recognize and understand the risk factors for sleep diordered breathing and sleep apnea. Adverse health implications will be enumerated and discussed to enable the practitioner to have a discussion with patients on risk factors and health sequelae.
• Obtain tools and develop the requisite skills to screen for patients potentially at risk for sleep apnea.
• Develop a working knowledge of the treatment options available for management of sleep disordered breathing and sleep apnea.
• Be able to discuss the full range of dental sleep appliances and the indications and contraindications of each design.
• Identify proper methods for impressioning, bite registration, appliance fitting, appliance titration.
• Develop a familiarity of the processes and procedures for follow-up and maintenance of the previously-diagnosed patient.

Presenters
Dr. Gordon Bell
Dr. Gordon Bell is a Diplomate from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine, and the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines. Dr. Bell received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from the University of Maryland, before moving on to the school’s College of Dental Surgery, where he graduated with high honors in 1989.
